Rodent infestations are one of the most urgent and damaging pest problems
that Riyadh homeowners and business operators face. Rats and mice are not simply a
nuisance — they are a serious public health threat. They carry and transmit dangerous
diseases including Leptospirosis, Salmonellosis, and Hantavirus through their urine,
droppings, and direct contact with food surfaces. In a city experiencing the rapid
construction, infrastructure expansion, and population growth of Riyadh, rodent populations
are consistently displaced from development sites and driven directly into residential
neighbourhoods and commercial premises in search of food, water, and shelter.
At Ecoguard Pest Solutions, we take rodent infestations seriously — because
the damage they cause goes far beyond what most property owners realise until it is too
late. Beyond the health risks, rats and mice gnaw through electrical wiring — creating a
genuine fire hazard — damage insulation, contaminate stored food, destroy furniture and
structural materials, and breed at an alarming rate. A single pair of rats can produce up to
200 offspring in a year under favourable conditions. Waiting to act is never an option with a
rodent problem.
The two primary rodent species infesting Riyadh properties are the Norway
Rat (Rattus norvegicus) — a large, burrowing rat commonly found in drainage systems,
beneath concrete slabs, in kitchen storerooms, and along building perimeters — and the
Roof Rat (Rattus rattus), a more agile climber that accesses properties through roof voids,
false ceilings, air conditioning ducts, and upper-floor openings. House Mice (Mus musculus)
are also prevalent, particularly in apartments and food retail environments, where they can
squeeze through gaps as small as 6 millimetres. Correctly identifying the species present is
the first step to deploying the right control strategy.
Ecoguard's rodent control programme is built on three interconnected pillars:
elimination, exclusion, and environment management. Elimination addresses the existing
rodent population through targeted trapping and bait station deployment. Exclusion involves
physically sealing all identified entry points to prevent new rodents from entering the
property. Environment management addresses the conditions — food availability, water
sources, harbourage sites — that make your property attractive to rodents in the first place.
Without all three components working together, even the most effective treatment will only
deliver temporary results.
Rodents Control Process
With decades of hands-on experience, our team specializes in identifying, eliminating, and preventing termite infestations using proven and reliable methods.
01
Detailed Rodent Survey & Activity Assessment
An Ecoguard rodent control specialist will conduct a thorough survey of your entire property
— interior and exterior — to identify the species present, map active runways and entry
points, locate burrows and nesting sites, and assess the full scale of the infestation. We
examine drainage access points, roof voids, wall cavities, false ceilings, kitchen and
storeroom areas, external perimeters, and any landscaping or waste storage areas adjacent
to the building. A comprehensive activity report and customised treatment plan is provided
before any work begins, with full transparency on methods, products, and expected
outcomes.
02
Targeted Elimination — Trapping & Bait Station Deployment
Based on the survey findings, Ecoguard deploys a combination of tamper-proof rodent bait
stations and mechanical trapping systems strategically positioned along confirmed rodent
runways, at active entry points, and within harbourage areas. Our bait stations are secured,
child-safe, and weather-resistant — suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation. All bait
products used are second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides registered and approved for
use in Saudi Arabia. Bait stations are checked, replenished, and monitored at agreed service
intervals until rodent activity is fully eliminated. Dead rodent collection and safe disposal is
included as part of every service visit to maintain hygiene and prevent secondary hazards.
03
Exclusion — Entry Point Sealing & Proofing
Once the active rodent population has been eliminated, Ecoguard carries out a detailed
exclusion programme to permanently seal all identified entry points and prevent future
ingress. This includes filling and sealing gaps around water pipes, drainage penetrations,
and utility cables entering the building; fitting stainless steel mesh or heavy-gauge wire wool
into roof void openings, air brick gaps, and weep holes; installing door brush seals and
threshold plates on external doors with clearance gaps; and sealing cracks in external walls,
foundation lines, and around air conditioning unit penetrations. Exclusion is the single most
important long-term measure in any rodent control programme — without it, the same entry
routes will simply be used again by new rodents from the surrounding environment.
Our Rodent-Free Guarantee
Every Ecoguard rodent control programme is supported by a 3-month service guarantee. If
rodent activity is detected at your property within the guarantee period following completion
of the full treatment programme — including exclusion works — we will return to investigate
and re-treat at no additional cost.
For commercial properties, food businesses, warehouses, and facilities where ongoing
rodent prevention is a regulatory requirement, Ecoguard offers monthly and quarterly
rodent management contracts. These include scheduled bait station inspections and
replenishment, activity monitoring reports, exclusion maintenance, and full documentation
suitable for municipal health authority and food safety audits. All commercial contracts
include a dedicated account technician who gets to know your property and its specific risk
profile.
