The most commonly encountered stinging insects in Riyadh properties are the
Oriental Hornet (Vespa orientalis) — a large, aggressive wasp species that is widespread
across Saudi Arabia and builds its nests in soil, wall cavities, roof voids, ceiling spaces, and
tree hollows — and the Paper Wasp (Polistes sp.), which constructs small, open-comb nests
under roof overhangs, window ledges, garden pergolas, and outdoor furniture. Honeybees
(Apis mellifera) also frequently swarm onto Riyadh properties during spring months,
establishing new colonies in wall cavities, water meter boxes, palm trees, and air
conditioning housing units. The Oriental Hornet in particular is known for its highly
aggressive defensive behaviour and the ability to sting multiple times — making untrained
attempts at nest removal extremely dangerous.
One of the most important aspects of professional bee and wasp control that
is frequently overlooked is proper nest removal following treatment. Simply killing the colony
with insecticide without removing the nest structure creates a new and serious problem —
the honeycomb, wax, dead brood, and stored honey left inside a wall cavity or roof void will
decompose, attract secondary infestations of moths, beetles, ants, and rodents, and in the
case of honeybee nests, the melting wax and honey can cause significant structural staining
and odour problems that are extremely difficult and costly to remediate. Ecoguard's
technicians remove accessible nest structures as a standard part of every bee and wasp
treatment, not an optional extra..
Like ants, termites have different forms that live in what is referred to a caste system. One of the more destructive termite castes is made up of workers that perform nest maintenance and forage for food.
The workers are frequently found infesting - and ingesting - wood in homes, businesses, and other structures. While they primarily like to feed on wood, workers will also eat plants at any level of decomposition.
Bee Control Control Process
With decades of hands-on experience, our team specializes in identifying, eliminating, and preventing termite infestations using proven and reliable methods.
01
Nest Identification & Risk Assessment
An Ecoguard technician — equipped with full protective PPE — will visit your property to
identify the species of bee or wasp present, locate the nest precisely, and assess the size
and activity level of the colony, the accessibility of the nest, and the specific risks associated
with the location. Whether the nest is inside a roof void, deep within a wall cavity, in a garden
tree, beneath outdoor decking, or inside an air conditioning unit housing, we have the
equipment and expertise to assess and treat it safely. We will explain the treatment approach
clearly before beginning any work and advise whether relocation is a viable option for bee
colonies.
02
Safe Nest Treatment & Elimination
For wasp nests and hornet nests, Ecoguard applies a fast-acting insecticidal dust or spray
treatment directly into the nest entrance and surrounding structure, using a high-pressure
injection lance where direct access is limited. The treatment eliminates the colony rapidly
and ensures returning foragers are also neutralised as they re-enter the nest over the
following hours. For honeybee swarms on exposed surfaces — such as tree branches or
wall exteriors — our technicians will first attempt safe collection and relocation using a bee
vacuum and collection box. Where a honeybee colony has already established inside a
structural cavity and relocation is not feasible, a targeted insecticide treatment is applied,
followed by sealing of the entrance points once colony activity has ceased completely.
Once the colony has been fully eliminated and all activity has stopped — typically 24 to 48
hours after initial treatment — Ecoguard returns to physically remove the nest structure from
all accessible locations. Cavity openings, entry points, and any gaps that allowed the colony
to establish are then professionally sealed using appropriate materials to prevent future
recolonisation by new swarms or scout insects. A residual insecticide treatment is applied to
the treated area to deter any remaining foragers or scout bees and wasps from
re-establishing in the same location. Our technician will also advise on any structural
maintenance or vegetation management measures around the property that would reduce
the likelihood of future nesting activity.
Our Bee & Wasp Nest Removal Guarantee
Every Ecoguard bee and wasp control treatment is backed by a 3-month recolonisation
guarantee for the treated nest location. If bees or wasps re-establish a new nest at the
same treated point within the guarantee period, we will return and re-treat at no additional
cost.
For commercial properties, schools, hotels, outdoor hospitality venues, and facilities
management companies that require scheduled seasonal stinging insect management
across multiple locations, Ecoguard offers annual bee and wasp prevention contracts —
covering spring and summer inspections of all high-risk nesting areas, preventative
treatments, and rapid emergency response for any active nest discoveries throughout the
year. All service visits are fully documented and include written technician reports.
